"I followed an exercise influencer on Instagram called Courtney Black, I would follow her religiously for her workouts, and then it was all about teaching myself a healthy relationship with food. "I decided to properly educate myself, I taught myself about nutrition," she says. Knowing exactly what her body needed in terms of calories and nutrients every day, she was then able to replicate things she enjoyed eating but with home cooking and calorie swaps. Olivia admits she would pick up meal deals for her lunchtime - with sandwiches, bag of crisps and fizzy drinks - then would get tempted into takeaways with her pals at night. It was pure laziness, and it took its toll." "I wasn't cooking properly, it was a case of noodles, turkey dinosaurs and smiley faces. I was always big as a younger girl, but when I went to university it got even worse. "Ever since high school I'd done every fad diet going but I never stuck to them. I didn't know what my weight was, until then I didn't have a clue, I just knew I was very overweight - but was stunned to see I was 17 stone 7lb. "My friend had lost a stone, and she bought me some scales and sent them to my house. She says: "In the first lockdown I got a job that required me to be active, so I thought I might as well start trying to be more healthy. Shocked to discover her weight had spiralled to 17 stone 7lb, Olivia decided during the first covid lockdown in 2020 that the time had come to finally tackle her unhealthy ways. Olivia, from Irlam, Salford, blames her weight gain on her unhealthy eating habits during her student days, first studying for her undergraduate degree in Huddersfield and then post-graduate in Salford.
